assignment 3
block buster films are different then they were back in the day. way back when a block buster was a new thing like jaws it was a block buster because of how epic it was (or seemed) and because of how they used the special effects. when they used these effects it was new so any small special effect was a huge deal and everyone loved it. now a days you can't just have special effects you have to have effects that are good enaugh to be accept by sociaty. our technologie has progressed to the point where alot of people dont even like the oldies like star wars or jaws because they think that the special effects are terrible, starwars even dicided to redo the graphics in the original three films maken them special editon to gain more audience, because lets face it the first three are the best. sadly enough even the graphics they re created aren't good enough anymore. Alot of people judge films by how good the effects are and how real it seems (acting inluded) and if it doesnt meet or go above the standard that has been set its not a block buster film let alone even tolerable by most audiances. it saddens me inside because all the classics i love i can't even talk about to most people because they think they suck? what the heck not fair, sure they may not have the best effects but in its time it was the best, it may not be that time anymore but they are still amazing!...to me. don't get me wrong though there are alot of good films that have come out within the last couple years like transformers had amazing effects it looked soooooo real and really cool, Its amazing how they took a cartoon and made it that epic, AWSOMENESS!!

when i think about how teens are portrayed i mainly think about cool. when you see a teenager on tv or anywhere in the media they try to make them look cool, or they make them fit in with the trend at that time. Alot of the time its even a new trend or style that they want to show to either make money or to produce an image that they really want teens to follow. when they produce that image alot of people will follow because well why not, its cool right. in a way i think thats wrong because when they change the trend, teens become portrayed alot differently then how they really are, it can make things worse for us.

do i think that the way that teenagers are portrayed in the media is accurate? no i dont i think that its accurate. the way that they portray it is more or less makeing what is unique in a person cool, i dont know about you but when something is cool it really quickly becomes un cool because somone screws it up, and then people get made fun of for it later. things very quickly become out of date or old because of cool hunting. cool hunters are constantly looking for "the cool" and when they find "the new cool" they change the image portrayed and thats what people want, they want to be cool, and everyone just follows it and those who dont are out of date people.
when i think about the modern popular culture, i think about how the media shows us an image of somthing and with that image they are able to manipulate us into thinking that we need what they show, or that we have to be apart of something thats popular. they manupulate us because they make it "cool" in other words what every one else is doing.

the types of media that are important to me would be music, games and movies. i like the emotion involved in music plus it sounds good. games are very fun and they fill the boring gaps in my day. movies are also important because they are freakn awsome, the technologie involved in movies has gotten soo great that they are so easy to enjoy.
